Why is it bad to leave your charger on?

Like for example, you have to take your iPhone out when it reaches 100%, or only charge it when there's little battery left. My friends and family have all told me to take it out once it's fully charged instead of leaving the charger plugged in, and I do take it out once it's at 100%, but I've always wondered why.

It's keeps giving it electricity and your wasting it

You'll wear out your battery life that way and in the future it will hold less of a charge. You should do this with any device that uses a rechargeable battery.

Matters, I have an iphone 4 s and if you use the charger it came with then it shuts off when it's fully charged but if you charge it with a different charger that isn't for the iPhone then it over charges it and is not good for it. (Over charging is hardly bad for it.) sorry I don't really know why, but it is a good chance that it is overheating, and i don't know, too much power in the battery?

Snooki wants mush mush!

No it's actually good for it. Lithium-Ion batteries do not respond well to deep cycling (draining and recharging) and having it on charge all the time will actually extend the life of your battery which is a very good thing in the case of the iPhone because the battery can't be removed (talk about built-in obsolescence.lol). Don't worry, once the battery hits 100%, charging automatically stops and it only charges again when the battery drops below 100%.It's fine.

You can leave your charger on all you want. The iPhone has an internal mechanism that shuts down the charging process once the battery is full. They are thinking of older cell phones which did not have this feature. Those would overcharge and the battery would swell. Best is to use down to 25% capacity before recharge.
