Is it possible to calibrate a usual (cheap monitor) using color calibrators i.e. Colormunki smile to match the color of smartphones/iphones?

Most cheap monitors won't have the proper settings available to adjust the colors correctly for true calibration. Otherwise you can live with "close enough" then you probably don't need to messing with calibration utilities in the first place beyond a visual comparison adjusting the settings you have available.

P makes a good point. The more adjustments that the monitor has, the better you'll be able to calibrate the monitor. But to answer your question, yes, you can calibrate any monitor to some degree. This is because when you calibrate, you are creating a profile that your computer uses to adjust the image BEFORE it is sent off to the monitor. All of the adjustments are happening inside the computer and not by the monitor.

As long as the monitor has enough controls to change RGB values then maybe.

You are a bit misguided in your thinking. Why do you think a cell phone is some kind of correct standard? Believe me, it is NOT, I don't care what make or model the phone is. Color calibration devices set a computer monitor to a standard that is known to be correct via the software and hardware of the calibration device. It is setting the monitor to THAT correct standard of color measurement… Not to a phone. If anything, the computer monitor needs to be properly calibrated and then the PHONE adjusted to match THAT, not the other way around. As far as I know, a phone does not give you that kind of adjust-ability. Bottom line, my suggestion to you is to leave everything well enough alone.

  • Why won't my Nike + shoes calibrate to my iPhone 4s? Do I need a receiver or something? It told me to walk around to activate the sensor but i walked around for a good 15 minutes and it didn't calibrate… Am i doing something wrong or is there another gadget i need?
  • Why has my iPhone been using more data than usual? I have a 2GB data plan that i have never overaged on. I moved to a different state for college, and after using my phone for a couple weeks here, i'm already nearing 4GB of data. I'm not using it any differently, just how i did at home. I used 1 GB of data in a period of 7 hours. Could someone please explain how this is possible? I have spoken to Verizon and Apple, who both were of no assistance. I have fetch completely off, and location services off as well.
  • Why can't they track the iPhones (Smartphones) of the people on missing plane? Many of them would have one and also activated locate my iPhone application. And they say your movement can be tracked on smart phones.
  • Why are Iphones so expensive than other smartphones in the market? Iphones are manufactured in China… So the manufacturing cost should be very low. Of couse, they have done a lot of R&D work… But so have other smartphone companies like Samsung, HTC etc While you can get other smartphones in the market with same features as in Iphones (or even more features than in Iphone), why are Iphones so overpriced?
