Is it possible to tether an iPhone to a Router?
I have been using my iPhone for tethering lately.
I got a big data plan to use for tethering but it can only connect to a few devices and using the Wi-Fi tethering uses allot of battery.
So I would like router to help with that.
But the only router I found was the Nexaria BC2 but it looks like that was discontinued back in 2010…

Is there another workaround that would work for this?
I did not think it would be this hard:/

No. All routers require a broadband connection now.
If you web search "mobile broadband router" you will find many of them that work with a USB mobile data dongle or certain types of laptop PC cards. But I do not know if the USB port works tethered to a mobile phone.
I guess another option would be to plug the phone into a computer, share the tethered connection with ICS (internet connection sharing. And connect ethernet (automatic IP that ICS will assign) to a network switch for other wired devices (ICS will give them IP addresses), or to the WAN of a wireless router.
No. Most routers need an internet connection from the a modem or any ISP,.
I tether my iPhone to my directv box and use the Ethernet port to my router. I can now use any number of connections on my iphone
- Which prepaid mobile network in the US allows you to tether your iPhone? I've been looking at Virgin, who offer uncapped data on month-by-month plans, but it's not clear if they allow you to tether your iPhone (AKA use it as a 'personal hotspot'). Any suggestions?
- What's the difference between a cheap router and a good router? Just wanted to know the difference between a cheap router and an expensive router, I know that is a very broad question, I'm just a bit confused on how a router works. Does it increase my Internet speed on multiple devices? I get 50Mb per second, Well at least that's what I pay for. I have a PS3 two iPhones and a tablet, as well as a desktop PC that is wireless. Can anyone recommend an excellent router under $150
- Tether internet with iphone on pay and go o2? I have an iPhone 4 and I'm on O2 with pay and go where I pay £15 a month to have texts and internet. What I want to do is to be able to tether the internet or set up a Wi-Fi hotspot using my phone. Does anyone know if it is possible to do that with O2 along with the cost of being able to tether?
