Is my iPhone 4 broken after dropping it in the sink?

My hands were full and my iPhone accidentally fell into the garbage disposal hole. It was only in there for about a second, but the water was running. The only part that got wet was the charger hole, and it wasn't even wet to the point of being worrying. I dried it off quickly but didn't put it in rice because I didn't think it would be a problem.

It's been about 5-6 hours. I haven't used it at all besides to charge it. (Bad idea, I know.) It randomly turned itself on, so I unlocked it and waited to see what would happen. Everything was working fine, but it asked if I wanted to slide for turn off. Shortly afterwards it locked itself and I shut it off.

Needless to say, I should've taken better care of it and I'm worried now. Is there anything I can do? Will it break or is there a slight chance of it recovering?

I wouldn't touch it for several days, maybe put a small fan on it and leave it run. Depends if water got in it or not.

  • Unresponsive screen after dropping it in water? So i dropped my iphone 4s in water. I tried to turn off my phone immediately but i had to eventually hard shut down my phone since the screen already stopped responding to touch. So i put it in rice and 5 days later, everything works fine except the screen. The screen turns on and is clear but does not respond when i touch it. Basically making my phone useless since i can't unlock it. Anything i can do?
  • Sound doesn't work on iPhone 5 after dropping it in water? I dropped my iPhone in the bath when it was in its case. The case covered everything except the screen. I've done this before with my old iPhone but that was playing up constantly afterwards and then broke. The only thing I've noticed this time is that the sound has stopped working it says the volume but I can't hear it. I've tried turning the "ringer" on and off but nothing. I've turned it off and back on again but still nothing happens
