Is my iPhone at risk to viruses?
Yesterday I got a pop up saying that I had been viewing innapropriate videos of children and that I needed to pay $100 by PayPal or other services and if I failed to a $50 fee could be added. I knew it was BS because I obviously had not been doing illegal things and that's not how the police would handle it so I just closed out before reading all of the long pop ups. I decided to delete chrome then redownload it and it's fine now but is my iPhone at risk? I did research and people say these pop ups can lock your phone but I didn't read that part because I closed it before I read it all. I don't want to wake up tomorrow with my iPhone not working because the Fake fbi scammers want my $150 bucks. Everything is working normal but I'm curious if it'll ever come back
Yes, iPhones can get hacked. Be careful when using free public wi-fi and make sure you have a secure connection.
Yes you might be at risk it could be a scam or a trap download avira antivirus to check your phone for viruses
No, its just a webpage. Iphones don't get viruses like other phones do.
You're fine.
What you describe is a website specific scam message. Police do not send warnings on a phone, or bill you for fines. They do that in person and through the courts! (This type of scam appears only when you visit that website, although numerous websites can share the same message system)
- Will resetting my iphone get rid of any viruses? Hi. I have an iphone 5 and I think it got a virus. I reset and erased and content and settings and its back to factory settings. So by doing that if there was a virus it should be gone, right?
- Should i risk cutting my mini sim to a micro sim? I have a iPhone 3GS but i recently bought myself an iPhone 4. I found out that i will need a micro sim as opposed to a mini sim, but i was wondering if i should risk cutting it down with a kitchen knife or something. I'm currently with vodafone and have had my sim card for about a year if that affects it? Is it easy to do? What are the risks? Am i likely to mess it up? What are problems faced when doing this? Any extra info would be much appreciated.
- Is there any risk in buying an unlocked iPhone? I'm out of contract with AT&T, with a 3Gs. My son tells me I should buy an unlocked 4s from a private party to preserve my unlimited data plan. Aside from taking the usual precautions for a high dollar private transaction, are there other concerns? If I walked into an Apple store with a question about using the phone, could they tell its status, and if so what could they do to me? Also, is unlocking a phone the same as jail-breaking it?
