Should i risk cutting my mini sim to a micro sim?
I have a iPhone 3GS but i recently bought myself an iPhone 4. I found out that i will need a micro sim as opposed to a mini sim, but i was wondering if i should risk cutting it down with a kitchen knife or something. I'm currently with vodafone and have had my sim card for about a year if that affects it? Is it easy to do? What are the risks? Am i likely to mess it up? What are problems faced when doing this? Any extra info would be much appreciated.
I don't know about doing it yourself, but Vodafone did mine for free instantly in the shop with a special tool - I'd try and do for that if you can.
I would not recommend cutting it with a knife!
You can either…
1. Ask Vodafone to swap your number (for free) from your old SIM to a new micro SIM - just call them on 191 from your current phone. You would have the same number and same plan but just on a new SIM.
2. Go into a Vodafone store and they have a special tool to cut down your old SIM to a micro SIM.
3. You can buy the SIM cutters on eBay yourself for about £5
What I did was cut it to roughly the right size put a tv programme on the tv and watched the show while i was using a nail file to get the correct size. I just kept popping it in the tray until it fitted. The key really is the nail file or just pop down to the shop and they will cut it for you. Just depends how urgent it is

I've just cut my sim card into a micro sim, Placed it into my iPhone 4s and it states there no sim card in there, They phone was recently unlocked by Telstra and i know it's unlocked because i got a conformation message on iTunes. I would have thought i cut it too small though that same sim card works in my Samsung Galaxy s2 Perfectly? What's the problem and why isn't it working with my iPhone?
