Is thailand electrical system safe?

I moved to Thailand about 2 week ago and i have had no problems until i got a 2 pin adapter for my phone (iPhone 3gs) and i plugged the usb into this adapter and then plugged it into the socket and it gave me a huge shock and it tripped the fuse box. But i was wondering if that could happen again e.g. My shower is a electrical heated one or like nothing is earthed in Thailand so i could get a shock from my true vision box.

Get the house rewired. It seems unsafe. I think generally Thailand is not the best for electrical safety

Well if your charger is only used for america, then you probably shouldnt use it in thailand, and i've been there and everything was perfectly fine for me, and just like everywhere else in the world there will be problems with electicity.

Thailand does not use a ground wire, so its not that safe. Your hot water heater you better hope they installed it with a ground. As for plugging in your Iphone that shouldn't happen you need to get the wiring checked out.

The system is safe. Your house's or apartment wiring may not be. Have it checked out. Many buildings are remodeled often, 5-10 years. In fact, most banks offer home loans of 5-10 years. Gee such a coincidence. The humidity and heat play havoc to the paint, glass, everything. It's not like in the USA nor Europe where things last years.

I was researching living in thailand over the last 8 years, watch and learn and read.

Thailand doesn't have the same building safety regulations as in the uk.
The wiring in some hotels i stayed in years ago where appalling and i myself received a few shocks.
If you are now living in Thailand the buy a Thai usb Charger cable. I paid 250 Thb for a iphone charger. I bought my charger in Bangkok so i'm sure they would be even cheaper elsewhere. I do know there's a store in Chonburi Banglamung where they sell phones and electrical items etc.

When i first moved here i had external hard drives packed with expansice music and movies.
I didn't want to risk blowing the drives so i insisted on the best electricians when arranging the building of my home.

  • Will I need an electrical/power adapter to travel to England? (I live in Canada)? I'm traveling to England next summer to visit some family for a month and I was wanting to bring my laptop and phone along with me. I have a Sony Vaio and iPhone 4 (I don't know if that makes a difference at all). If I need to get one, what type do I buy and where can I purchase one? Preferably not online.
  • What's the difference between the US and Thailand made iPhone 4s? I'm planning to buy an iPhone here at the Philippines. But, some shops offer iPhones made from Thailand, Korea, etc. (other than the US) Are they the same in terms of hardware? Some of my friends told me that if you buy a non-US made iphone, there's really no difference. Okay, so if I buy, let's say, the Thailand version of an iPhone 4s. It's really the same as every other iPhones out there? Well, minus the contracts, because I don't live in the US.
  • Is this website legit for buying electrical goods? I'm curious to know if this website is legit. I plan on buying an iPhone, and this site has some really good deals. Here is the site: https://www.oembrands.co.uk/ I've also read reviews and they seem to be good, but I'm just unsure. If anyone can help, it'll be much appreciated.
