Is the Canon T3i Rebel worth it?

So, i make YouTube videos, and i currently use my iphone 4s to film, and i use imovie 09 to edit the video.

Now, what i wanna ask is, is it worth it to buy a Canon T3i Rebel, or should i just stick with my iphone? Is the difference worth it? And is it wise to buy such a high quality camera but still be editing on imovie 09?

Well it is and it isn't. If you want to really get into shooting more pro type video then it is but if you think your iPhone is doing fine then why not just get a regular HD camcorder for like $150-$200?
If you want an excellent HD DSLR then check out the Sony a57. They are quite comparable with Canon.keep in mind that DSLR cameras are MADE for photography and video is a 'nice' feature to have.

Iphone 4s is good enough, better save your budget for something more important.

The T3i is a dSLR. DSLR's were never meant to do video. The right tool is a digital camcorder. Is it worth it then? It all depends on what you know about video making that compels you to use a dSLR.

The answer depends on you. Of course the camera is worth what they charge for it, it's excellent.
Worth it to you? We can't tell you that - that's completely up to you.

Adobe premiere works on both windows and mac os x. Just like Avid (which I guess is a little too expensive).

There are much better video cameras than the T3i, but for the kind of stuff you're shooting, it will certainly have higher potential than the iPhone. That said, you might want to invest in better lighting before considering any camera-a desk lamp by itself is a very poor light source. Even the most expensive cinematic cameras have trouble in low light.

There are better editing options than iMovie, but for basic no-frills edits it will do the job. You can hold off in this area until you're absolutely certain you are being constrained by iMovie.

  • Wireless remote for canon rebel t5i? Using Eye-fi? I recently bought a Canon Rebel t5i and an Eye-fi SD card. The card produces Wi-Fi and automatically syncs the pictures I take on the camera to my iphone. I know other canon cameras with built-in Wi-Fi allow you to view what the lens sees from your smart phone, and use it as a hi-tech remote, where you can change the settings. I can't find anything in the instruction manual or internet. Someone please help! Am i able to do this with the eye-fi card? If so, how and what app?
  • Should I buy canon powershot sx50 hs or t3i? I really like the zoom of canon sx50 hs but I was wondering does it take a clear picture, If you compare it to iphone 5s how from 1 to 10 is greater? and should I buy another camera?
