Is the iphone on virgin mobile worth it?

I don't think they have it yet.
I have Virgin Mobile. I pay $25 for 300 min.of talk a month (which I never use up) and 'unlimited data'. (I got in before they raised it to $30, which is still a good deal)
But the data is pretty useless. It's VERY slow, compared to Wi-Fi on my computer, and sometimes it will just pause for a minute or two. I don't mind because I get it just for the phone, which works great. And I even suspect it might be the phone itself that's the problem with the data, though it works fine for voice.
With ATT or Sprint, you buy an iPhone as part of a plan. You're stuck in a 2-year contract so they give you a good deal on the phone. But on a pay-as-you-go, no-contract setup, you pay for the phone yourself. And the iPhone is E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E! I guess in the long run you're gong to pay for it one way or another, just on Virgin it seems like a lot more money.

- Virgin Mobile or Boost Mobile? I'm moving to Houston this summer and I'm looking for a cheaper cell phone plan. I talk, text, email, fb etc. I had virgin mobile back in 2004 and I love it and had no problem. I have a android galaxy s3 right now which I love but the battery isn't so great. I'm thinking about possibly buying an iPhone. What I'm really looking for is reviews on virgin and boost mobile. If you have any other cheap cell phone plan carrier suggestions I'm up for that too.

With Unlimited messaging and data) That's a *** load of money for one phone, but I like the plan though. Should I get the iphone or get some other non-contract phone from the target store?
