Is there any import tax/duty on sending an iphone 4 to Canada from Australia?
I just got given an iphone 4 and I want to give to my girlfriend who now lives in Canada, will either of us have to pay any sort of import tax or duty on it? It's a gift if that helps. If so, how much?
There's no import duty on phones in Canada. However, sales tax could apply if you value it too highly.
Your best bet is to put a value of less than $60 (Canadian) on it, and make sure you identify that it's a gift.
No import duty, but they may expect her to pay GST/HST on it as it comes across the border, even if it is a gift, since I-phones are worth more than the limit. Even if you write 60.00 on the package, if they can tell what it is, they'll know it's worth more.
Obviously u new to real world.
give her a gift card to buy one in Canada.
you will pay more in shipping insurance customs
then worth and it may not work in Canada.

- Is there an iPhone calculator app with a built in add tax button? On my iPad i have an app called calculator HD -prettycalc that has a button where I can add tax to an any total I compute or put in via one button press (able to set the tax rate in the settings). I find this much easier than multiplying any total by my tax rate and then trying to remember the total to add it back on to.So, does anyone know of a iPhone calculator app that has this?
