Is there tax on the iphone 6?
Hi, I was going to buy the unlocked iphone 6. On apple.com it says that the phone is $649. I was going to buy it from their website. Is there tax if I buy it online? If so how much will it bring the price up? I live in Texas.
If the place you buy it from has a nexus in your state, yes
Apple has retail tores in TX, so yes they have to charge TX sales tax online
You will owe sales tax on the retail value.
The base rate in TX is 6.25% but there are up to 2% in local option taxes on top of that. For practical purposes, the rate is 8.25% virtually statewide.
