Why can I not use any sim card in my iPhone even though it is unlocked?
I got an iPhone from a friend who says that the phone is unlocked, but every sim card I try in it seems not to work, it keeps on coming up with the same message that "There's no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. Please disconnect and insert a SIM card in the iPhone." when have clearly put one in.
What can I do?
The SIM card reader may be defective. Try turning the phone off and on with the SIM card inside
Or try slapping the chip in hard when inserting it. Like hit it hard
You must make sure that the iPhone you are using is GSM or CDMA. Then make sure your SIM card/Carrier is using the same band. For example Verizon is CDMA (you will need to have a CDMA iPhone).
• American CDMA carriers:
Verizon, Sprint and whoever uses their networks (Virgin, Boost, Alltel)
• American GSM carriers:
AT&T and T-Mobile, and whoever uses their networks (Suncom, Pure)
First You need to check if the phone is unlocked then we can figure out what the problem is.
so
1. Dail *#06 on your keypad
your IMEI number will appear copy it and
2. Go to www.imei.info this website will show you everything about your device including what network is locked to.
Please do this then we can take it from there.
I awaits your reply.
- Why Iphone 4S won't read T-mobile Sim card even though factory unlocked? I have an iphone 4S and it reads Att sim card no problem, i had the phone factory unlocked and it even said Congratulations your iPhone is unlocked after i restored it in iTunes, but all it says is no service i tried two different T-Mobile sim cards. I even checked my imei number online and it said the phone was factory unlocked. Is there anything i can try, i've never ran across something like this.
- Why can I still send texts to other iPhones even though my iPhone has NO sim card? My iPhone stopped recieving calls properly so I've had to put my sim card into a different phone. Why when my mate text me from his iPhone did I receive it still on my iPhone and not the phone with the sim card in. And I was able to text him back from the iPhone but when he called me the little Nokia that I'm using rang… I'll be honest, I really don't understand how iOs stuff works…
- When traveling, can I buy a SIM card to my iphone even though I'm still on a contract? I'm traveling soon. I have verizon and their roaming service is very expensive. I was wondering if once I get to my destination country, can I buy a SIM card so that I can be able to obtain phone service while on my trip? If not, My iphone is still under contract, if I get my phone unlocked, then buy a SIM card, would that also be a problem?
- My iphone does not have a Wi-Fi symbol even though it is connected to Wi-Fi? I know it is connected to Wi-Fi because if i turn off cellular data it still goes on the internet, but the Wi-Fi "symbol" isn't there. Also, sometimes it says LTE or 4G when I know it's connected to Wi-Fi. Does anyone know why?
