Is there anyway you can download iOS 5 on an iPhone 3g?

Never had an iphone but when I broke my Samsung, and didn't have any upgrades available, I decided to buy a phone off amazon. I ended up buying an iphone 3g not knowing anything about iphones. Now that my update doesn't go any higher than iOS 4.2.1 I have absolutely no apps. So did I just screw myself over? Aren't there "ways" to get iOS 5 even though my phone isn't compatible? Tried emailing iTunes already and didn't really help

It is really unfortunate how there are no more apps available. However there's a work around although it isn't really ios 5. Also it won't support the newest apps. The software is called whited00r. It gives you ios features as well as a proprietary app store that are compatible with the software you are running. Heres the link. Easy install too. Good luck.
