Jailbroken iphone not updating?

On itunes i go to update to ios 6.1 and the step when it says checking iphone with apple it pauses a bit then an error message comes up saying unknow erreor has occurred i then pressed the restore and update button to unjailbreak my device but the same thing came up what should i do?

last time i updated my jailbroken device from ios 5.1.1 to ios 6.0.1 it worked perfectly fine and there was no apple identification step.

I had the exact same problem, in iTunes, click restore iphone, then restore and update.

Make sure itunes is updated.
do a restore and update.
backup, make sure no passcode.
i did it with my ipad mini and it wrks perfect.
made a vid to its only about 3min long and works.

  • Will updating (to 6.1.4) a jailbroken iPhone 5 on 6.1.2 brick it? So I'm updating to the beta version of ios 7, but first I need to uninstall my Evasi0n jailbreak and update to 6.1.4. Will just pressing the update button in iTunes brick my iPhone, or will I just loose the jailbreak? If this will brick it, what is the best way to go about restoring my iPhone?
