Keeping in contact with other people in different parts of a cruise ship?

I'm going on a cruise with my family along with another family, i'm wondering if there are ways we could keep in touch while in separate parts of the ship… Just to say like meet me in 10mins here or something. I've sort of thought of a couple of ideas but haven't been able to find soloutions yet…

We all have apple products (either iphones or ipods) so if there was some kind of app we could download to msg eachother without internet or simcard?

Along the same lines… Maybe a dashboard\messageboard which is just one account that we can all sign into and post things onto so that it comes up on everyones phone (cause were all on the same account) does that make sense?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, and yes i have already considered walkie talkies but itd be weird if it went off in the middle of talking to someone haha

Please, let me know.

Any APP would still need Wi-Fi or the internet to work, no cell towers (antennas) at sea, and yeas walkie talkie's would work but only if you get through security, plus you would look very weird.

You can just go to how things worked in the olden days of the past, you know like 15 years ago. So like everyone meet at certain place at a certain time. It is a vacation, you can be a little independent, as can the others you are traveling with.

You need to discover connect(at)sea application, provided by MTN.
"Intra-ship calling enables passengers to connect with their friends and family onboard to make plans or keep track of one another."
That's what you're looking for.

We actually tried with walkie talkies. Didn't work due to the sheer mass of metal between us.

Obviously the walkie talkies used by the crew are on a specialist Wi-Fi circuit or similar

Any mobile/tablet would only work via the ships system and even then lots of ships don't have Wi-Fi throughout the ship. You would also be paying the ships "exorbitant" charges PLUS international roaming for both phones!

No app. No walkie talkies either( annoying as hell to other pax and have squat for range( will not work between decks)

sticky notes, making a general schedule, using the house phones to leave messages in the cabins. Having set times and locations to meet

We've always used stickies. We also had specific times each day when we'd meet. You really do't need to to be tied to the hip all day. It's a vacation.

Cell phones do not work unless they go through the internet or cell phone system. Cell phone calls on a ship are about $2.50 a minute. You can send a text for about 50 cents and receive one for 5 cents but that means leaving the phone on with the possibility of getting charged for unwanted calls.

I hate walkie talkies since the are very annoying to other people. There are always phones around the ship to call to a cabin. Best thing to do is set certain meet times and places.

Discuss your future event schedules whenever you get together. For example: While eating lunch together, discuss what each person plans to do ( ice carving demo, movie, show, spa, hot tub, etc. ) after lunch and per arrange a time and place where you'll meet again.

Leave messages in your stateroom.

Leave messages on room phones.

Some ships rent two-way radios.

Note: even on big ships, you often run into members of your group.

Go first class and have your butler tell them!
