Macbooks and iPhones with personal hotspots?
So I noticed on my macbook that when I click the Wi-Fi icon, my iPhone pops up and I can activate a personal hotspot from the laptop. This might be a big concern for me; if, for example, I'm in an airport, can a random person with a macbook activate a personal hotspot from my phone without me knowing? Or is it specific to my laptop since my phone has synced to it multiple times?
It's specific to your iCloud account.
No…
Of course its for you & you alone to do.
Its though the Apple ID which you've signed into on both devices.
Although you initially have to start the hotspot on the phone 1st before it shows up anywhere.
On my macbook that when I click the Wi-Fi icon, my iPhone pops up and I can activate a personal hotspot from the laptop."
That is because you activated a hotspot from the iPhone.
"if, for example, I'm in an airport, can a random person with a macbook activate a personal hotspot from my phone without me knowing?"
No one can affect ANYTHING on your iPhone without having the iPhone in hand.
"is it specific to my laptop since my phone has synced to it multiple times?"
I don't understand this. If your phone is broadcasting a hotspot, it is not specific to anything. Anyone with the password can connect.
- Why is Apple so keen to push USB-C with their Macbooks but they don't include USB-C on the iPhone? It seems like the Macbook department at Apple thinks USB Type C is the best thing since sliced bread but the iPhone department thinks USB Type C is work of the devil.
- Why do people like apple products such as iphones and macbooks? IN terms of phones Androids are BY FAR the superior device and also why would you spend over $1000 dollars on a macbook pro when you can get a toshiba touchscreen laptop with 1000 gigabytes worth of storage for only $699? Seriously i would like to know.
- What is your opinion on teenagers having MacBooks and iPhones? Lots of people say they are underage to have the responsibility of a macbook or iPhone. I'm 13 and i take good care of mine What do you think?
- Trouble with Wi-Fi hotspots? I'm on my wi-fi at home, and apparently my DSi can't use it or something, so since my iphone's on the Wi-Fi, I'm wondering if making a personal hotspot would be kind of like a go-between. So what I'm asking is, if I make a hotspot with my phone (That's on AT&T wi-fi), will it use up my personal data? I have very limited data so I'd like to know before I try it.
