My AT&T iPhone contract is up, what are cheaper options to use this iPhone?

I'm tired of paying $105/mo and my contract is expiring. Can I take my iPhone to a different carrier that will cost less? What are the best options?

Verizon is supposed to have a 60$ a month paln with unlimited talk and text with 1 or 2 gigs of data

You can unlock it and take it to T-Mobile or switch to Bring-My-Own-Phone plan with AT&T

I don't think you can activate it with Verizon as they use different technology.

Since this is a out of contract GSM based iphone, get ATT to unlock it per policy and go to straight talk bring your own phone (byop) program for $50/mo

You will first need to get the phone unlocked to allow service from another provider. AT&T runs on a GSM network so T-Mobile or MetroPCS are your best options. Verizon and Sprint both run on CDMA networks so the phone will not likely work with either. Unfortunately AT&T has disabled unlocking of their iPhones as of sometime this past October so I would take it to a cell phone repair store to have it unlocked.
