My Internet says i'm connected but I'm not?

I have a PC with Windows 8. This morning I started it up, and connected to the Wi-Fi. IT says I'm connected, but after about 5 minutes of trying to load the page, it says that it can't be loaded. I tried taking the modem out of the desktop, and putting it back in. This usually works, but failed this time. I also restarted the computer various times, but the same problem happened. Sometimes for about a minute a little yellow warning sign over the bars says i'm connected, but have no internet access. This usually goes away quickly, which it did.

I unplugged the power to the router and modem while waiting 10 seconds without success. I repeated this many times. The weird thing is that my iMac and apple iPad, iPhone and macbook all access the internet fine. I tried to connect to xbox live on my xbox 360, but that didn't work at all and it failed to connect.

Is there anything wrong with the code? Or is it a microsoft thing…

The following issues may be happening in your case:

1. Your router/modem may be unable to connect to the Internet. This could be a modem issue or a telco issue.

2. You may be connected to the Internet, but your ISP's domain name servers may be down.

How to ping with Windows 8: http://www.chasms.com/chasms1/howdoi/ping_tracert/win8/ping.htm

Try to ping 8.8.8.8. If it works but you're still unable to browse pages, then it's a DNS issue.

In that case, try to use Google's public DNS servers instead. The IPs are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
