My iphone does not have a Wi-Fi symbol even though it is connected to Wi-Fi?

I know it is connected to Wi-Fi because if i turn off cellular data it still goes on the internet, but the Wi-Fi "symbol" isn't there. Also, sometimes it says LTE or 4G when I know it's connected to Wi-Fi. Does anyone know why?

Have you ever check the IP address under settings, network? To be completely sure that you are connected to Wi-Fi, you must go to network under setting, and tap the blue arrow to the right where it is supposedly connected. Here you can see the network info and the gateway, IP address, etc…
If it don't show a DNS, then you are not connected and that is why it still shows the data symbol. (3g, edge, LTE)

  • Why doesn't my iPhone show the 4G symbol but it shows the LTE symbol? I have Verizon as a carrier, and I just aksed this question but didn't ask it right. YES I HAVE 4G LTE. I've had the phone for 2 months and have been many places with it. It only shows the circle, 3G, and the LTE symbol, but not 4G or the Edge symbol. If anyone knows why, please let me know.

Please disconnect and insert a SIM card in the iPhone." when have clearly put one in. What can I do?
  • No internet on laptop even though it says connected? Internets always worked fine but now nothing. I've tried wireless and cable on my home internet, i've tried using my iphones hotspot and it always says connected but nothing works. Its definitely not my internet as everything else connected works. And i can still ping websites in command prompt but thats it. Can anyone help? Really not keen on buying a new laptop…
