My iphone was washed in the washing machine today

Today I was in the shower and I left my phone on my bed. My mom decided to wash my sheets, and guess what? My phone was in there! About 15 minutes later i came out of my shower and noticed the sheets were gone. I asked my mom. "wheres my phone… " and she was like "OH… " then she got it out. I tried to turn it on nothing worked. And i heat it up a bit too and tried to charge it. I'm so worried! Will it work? I actually took my battery out and put it in rice and silica gel packets

My friend put hers in rice for 48 hours, and said it helped alot.

So you said you put it in rice and silica gel packets. Did you put it for at least two to three days? That could have done something.

Then again I'm assuming it wasn't only washed with water, it was also included with laundry detergent, since it was in the washer. If that was the case, then the only way to do so is to replace a new iPhone.

Try the first option listed here, if nothing happens then you're gonna have to buy a new one. Unless if it was bought new you could get a replacement for the same price. If it's old then i don't know, does it have an insurance or warranty? Maybe that could be better.

I tried putting it in rice and drying it with a hair drier or blow drier everything works except the touch and the screen has a white strap going down and you can see the water or water stains any suggestions
  • My iphone 5 was in the washing machine It was in the pocket of a pair of sweatpants for about 5 minutes by the time i realized i had left it in there the water had just started to run. My phone was wet but there didn't seem to be too much damage. The music still played fine and i could hear people on calls. But then i noticed a screen discoloration in the bottom left corner! Is this bad? Do i need to go to the Apple Genius Bar or to the Verizon store? I'm soaking it in rice now and it is still in warranty.

  • IPhone dongle went through washing machine? I accidentally left the dongle (lightning to aux adapter) in the pocket of a jacket that went through the washing machine. The cord s completely dry, so is there any harm in trying to plug it into the iPhone and an aux cord to see if it still works?
