My micro sim card won't fit in my iphone 5?

I have Verizon wireless. I had a Droid 4 until it recently stopped working. I don't have a warranty for it. I have about 8 months left until I can upgrade. I needed a phone so I bought a Verizon iphone 5 off eBay. The problem I have right now is that I can't fit my Micro Sim card that I had in my Droid into the iPhone. Buying a Nano Sim card isn't a problem. The problem is I don't want to change my phone number. If I buy a Nano sim, do I have to get a new number? Or can Verizon transfer my current number, onto the new sim?
Please help. I don't want to cut up my Micro sim and turn it into a Nano sim. I feel like that's too risky and I might accidentally break the card.

Verizon Wireless are able to transfer your number and existing contract details onto a nano-SIM card, to be used with an iPhone 5. This will not change the time of your next upgrade.

Don't worry, you can transfer your information onto the nano sim card.

you see, if disable your micro sim, then the number will be available, so you can use it on the nano sim.

1. Verizon is a CDMA carrier. They don't use SIM cards (only for LTE support).
2. Since Verizon is an iPhone 5 carrier they should be able to help get a nanoSIM, but again they would have to activate the phone on the network & you could also enquire about keeping your number.

I've just cut my sim card into a micro sim, Placed it into my iPhone 4s and it states there no sim card in there, They phone was recently unlocked by Telstra and i know it's unlocked because i got a conformation message on iTunes. I would have thought i cut it too small though that same sim card works in my Samsung Galaxy s2 Perfectly? What's the problem and why isn't it working with my iPhone?
