My toshiba laptop will not pick up any Wi-Fi?

I have a toshiba that is a year and half old. I have been using an ether net cord straight from the modem from the cable company. 2 days ago I bought a wireless router. My kindle and my iphone picks up the internet from the router but the computer will not. I clicked on the internet connections on the bottom right hand side and all it says is broadband connection available with a big red X. I have pushed the FN F8 key. I called the cable company and they walked me through few steps and they said for some reason I no longer have Wi-Fi capabilities on my computer. How do I fix this?

You have pushed the antenna key at the top of the keyboard-- right next to the power button?
It will cycle off/on when you do.
have you gone into your network? Control panel> network and sharing center> choose the left panel… > adapter settings… Find your network name it should have a red X through it. Right click. There's a menu enable/disable. Pick enable.
If this does not work, control panel> system and security> system>device manager. Open it and look to network adapters. Do any have a line through them. Go to the properties with a right click and see if any are disabled. Choose to enable.
If you must you can remove the driver, AFTER you have run a "system restore" and saved data, closed all programs, THEN reboot the PC. It will reinstall the driver and then you will need to reinstall the Network itself on the PC.
