No Pictures Allowed Inside Store. Why?

I was taking pictures in a store of items I was interested in as gifts for my birthday and sending them to my sister for suggestions of what to buy me. After about the third picture I took an employee walked up and informed me I was not allowed to take pictures inside the store.

Why would a store do this?

With Cell phones as amazing as they are what is the point of telling me no pictures?

I just continued taking the pictures while I acted like I was talking on my Iphone while I snapped them so the guy pretty much wasted his breath.

Well actually you could be escorted out of the store. Some stores have policy's not to let people take photos, some don't. Why not go to the stores that allow photos.
I think they don't let you photograph for security reasons

It does not matter why.

What is the issue here.

It's pretty silly, but they think you are a corporate spy, telling the competitor you work for about the store's prices and promotions, etc.

It's private property.

It doesn't matter why, but a lot of advertising materials in store are copyrighted or trademarked.

  • Would I be allowed? (Australian)? I'm boarding a QANTAS plane and going from QLD to VIC (Melbourne), would I be allowed to put my iPhone (5) to airplane mode and turn it off and just use it to take pictures on the plane? It will just be through my window, and if I'm taking it through the opposite side of me, i will ask their permission.
  • Why do employees' families are not allowed to take part on the company's promo programs? Say the company is Apple. There's a promo where they are giving away 10 iPhone 6 and 5 iPhone 6 Plus for 16 lucky winners (each receive either a 6 or a 6+)

  • Is a teacher allowed to take things from students? I was at school sitting in the office waiting for my mom to pick me up for an orthodontist appointment. I was signed out of school for the day btw. After 20 minutes of waiting I got my iPhone out to text her and a teacher told me to put it away. I told him I'm checked out of school and waiting on my mom. He said he didn't care. He grabbed my arm an tried to take my phone. He was at that point hurting me so I kicked his nuts. I told him I was going to have him arrested. Can I?
