Other people look fine in iphone selfshot i don't camera?

I'm a male and when I look in the mirror I look fine also when I take a picture of myself with my iphone in the mirror I look fine but when I point the Iphone at myself like arms-lenght I look very weird my hair looks weird and my face shape becomes different.

BUT WHEN i look on facebook and stuff and other places I see other people taking selfshots and they look fine they look like what they normally look you always see people taking pictures of themselfs at armslenght but why it gets so weird for me?

Added (1). Eddit: Still other people look fine on it how come i don't

You probably have large features in your facial structure, so when you use a phone camera which has like a wide angle lens, you get distortion. Get a real camera and shoot pictures (get a friend to take the picture) with at least a 50mm lens. More focal length if possible!

You can't expect a phone camera which was designed to take pictures of "fender benders" to be good at human beings. It "ain't gun-na happen!"

Selfies are difficult, at best. First, we never see ourselves as others see us. Next, it is a two dimensional representation of a three dimensional object, so there's distortion. On some people, the distortion works, so the camera loves them. On you, apparently, the distortion doesn't work, so the camera hates you.

  • Why does my head shape look different in mirror and iphone armlengt selfshot? So when i look in mirror or take selfshot in mirror my head looks fine but when i take picture of myself with iphone my face sudderlap becomes very long you is this while people on facebook posting selfshots look fine i guess Photography
  • Why do I look okay in the front camera of my iPhone but bad in the back camera? I kinda look good in the front camera of my iPhone but I have noticed I don't look that "great" in the back camera of the phone. My face looks longer and my smile is bigger? It's kinda weird. But in the front camera i kinda look like the way I see myself in the mirror. But why do I look good in one camera but bad in the other if they're both cameras?
  • Why do I look gross on my iPhone camera, but not on an actual camera? I took two videos: one on my iPhone and one on my sister's new camera to test it out. On my phone, I look gross, blotchily red- and white-faced, every blemish is exaggerated, and my skin looks oily. On my sister's camera, I looked exactly the way I do in a mirror (well/evenly tanned, no extremely noticeable blemishes, not too oily). They're both 1080p, but my phone makes me look a lot worse. Even my really old 480p camera makes me look better than on my iPhone.
  • Is what we look in the mirror or the camera more how we actually look? Whenever I look in the bathroom mirror, I look good, but whenever I take a picture of myself, my bad skin and oily skin show more and my face shape looks uneven and I look like I have a huge forehead. I just took it with my iPhone with no filter on. Is the camera or the mirror more real?
