Which, if any, insulin pumps on the market have pre-filled cartridges?
I have been a Type I Diabetic for over a decade now, and I have just recently started the process to getting a pump. I'm leaning toward the t: slim G4 from Tandem, however you have to load insulin into the cartridge. It's the strangest thing I have ever seen - as I view the t: slim as the iPhone of insulin pumps - so why are they using this outdated system? Is it FDA approved to have pre-filled cartridges? What pumps use them?
I just worry that it will be time consuming every few days to fill one up, and ensuring there are no air bubbles can be a little annoying at times - much less filling three 100-unit syringes and injecting it into a cartridge.
When I met with the rep and expressed my concern she quickly stated they didn't want to sell a bad cartridge or "guarantee" that it the pre-filled was safe to use.
Any information would be greatly appreciated! If you use a pump that requires you to fill manually, please let me know how that goes for you and the experiences that come along with it.
