Iphone 5c touchscreen not working?

So basically, i fell backwards off my chairf and my phone flew out of my hand and hit the fan behind me, when i picked it up i saw the top left corner on the screen and a bit of the left side had come out.
So i pushed it back in but my phone's touchscreen (mainly the left side) won't work.
How do i do this? I can't unlock my phone so should i reset it? How do i do that?
I have already rebooted my phone loads of times but it still won't work.

If I don't have iOS 8 available?

I have an iPhone 4… And my phone tells me that iOS 8 isn't even on my phone. I have iOS 7.1.2 and if says my software is up to date. How do I get iOS 8?!

Why are people obsessed with having the latest iPhone?

I just don't get it, why do some people camp and queue in order to get these phones?

I'm 20 myself, and I know like me, a lot of people have their lives on their phone, tablet, laptop, whatever haha, but I just don't understand what all the hype is?

Is it like a status/ ego thing that you can afford and have a product of a kind of luxury brand? (Like having a Gucci handbag or something?) Or is the fact that the latest iPhone (currently iPhone 6) has like some super innovative features that actually improve you're daily life?
