IPhone 5 won't connect to Mac?

I've just bought an iPhone 5 on eBay.

I've previously had a 4s so already have iTunes installed and ready.

I thought it would be a simple case of plugging in the new iPhone and hitting the restore button and setting up new phone from back up.

Since plugging it into my Mac, nothing is happening! It won't even charge, just doesn't connect at all yet it charges with the same lead from the wall.

I've looked on YouTube and followed the instructions to press and hold power buttons (top and bottom ones) and I get the screen come up on the phone that says 'connect to iTunes' then still nothing comes up on screen on the Mac.

Please don't tell me I've bought a fake. This is what I'm dreading. I asked for proof it was genuine and he showed me an email from apple confirming that this was a replacement for a faulty one he returned. The email contained the imei number which matches so thought I'd done my checks.

Please help. Spend hours messing around with it. I'm not very tech savvy as you can probably tell so simple instructions will be appreciated.

I just got my first iPhone 7 days ago. I'm very cautious about going over my data so I always have it turned off because I have Wi-Fi at my house but sometimes if I'm outside I will turn it on. I downloaded the Bell Self Serve app on my phone (for free).

My cell phone plan is 43 bucks for unlimited texting, 200 mb of data, free local calling after 5 oclock and on weekends, and 150 minutes of daily local calling. I also have warranty which is 10 extra bucks a month.

So far I have used up only 20 mb of data. But when I look at my Bell self serve app it says that I owe 68 bucks?

Please help me. By the way two people called me today but they were long distant numbers because they had the wrong number, I was only on the for for 1 minute with them both.

Oh my god please help me, I don't know what I did wrong.

How long will it take for a completely dead iPhone 5 to see screen?

I went on a white water rafting trip and I had an Otterbox case on my phone. Some water got into the case so I'm guessing it got into my iPhone 5. Once I got home, I immediately put it into rice so it can absorb the water out of the phone.

How long will it take after plugging in my iPhone 5 to a wall charger will I be able to see this screen?

My iPhone is still sitting in the rice right now, I just wanted to know how long before I can see that screen. I heard some people say it takes 5-10 minutes.

How to fix my iphone brightness?

I got water in my iphone and i put it rice to dry it and all the water on the screen was gone but the screen is really dark and i can't see much unless it is in direct light and the screen dosent change no matter how high the brightness settining is?

Downloading apps not on AppStore?

Is there a way to download apps that are not on the AppStore. I can't jailbreak because I upgraded to 6.1.3. I want to download a torrent player that was banned from AppStore so I can stream videos from piratebay.org from iPhone 4S.

How to keep music playing in my google browser when my Iphone 4s is on sleep mode?

My boyfriend has the exact same phone as me and I was wondering how he is able to play music on his phone via google browser (GrooveShark.com) while his phone is on sleep mode… When I can only multitask with my phone while listening to music, but I can't put it on sleep mode with out shutting off. Not sure how to change this setting and I've tried to go through my phone to find it but I can't. Anyone know how to turn this feature on?

Anyways… My music only shuts off to youtube or google when I put it on sleep mode… So my regular music player works fine.
