I left my iPhone on BART (Bay Area Subway) earlier this week.
I have the find my iPhone app installed on my iPhone and location services turned on.
It hasn't popped up a single time on icloud.com. The train wasn't crowded at all and was only underground too far from 3G connection for 20 mins or so from the time I left it. That's why I find it hard to believe someone swooped in and turned it off in time before the train emerged from the tunnel (and a 3G connection).
I guess my question is does the phone have to be hooked up to Wi-Fi to show up on FindMyiPhone?
I'm sure one of the train employees just pocketed it during the sweep at the destination (Daly City).
I've already let my provider know the number so it can't be reactivated. Reported it lost and will follow up with the 12th St.lost & found center next week. Not much I can do now I guess except not be an idiot next time.
