Problem with syncing iPhone with iTunes?

I have an iPhone 5 and I haven't updated to iOS 7 and I don't plan to. However, I have the latest version of iTunes (my brother updated it for me without letting me know).

Now, whenever I plug my phone into my laptop, iTunes never opens automatically anymore. But that's not the problem. The problem is that I can't sync my phone with iTunes. My computer knows that my phone is plugged in so I can still access photos/videos through here: image

But iTunes doesn't know that my phone is plugged in. It would usually sync automatically but now it doesn't do that and I can't even sync it manually either. This is what appears: image

It's really annoying me that I can't add any music or videos onto my phone. My USB cable is perfectly fine and both my iPhone 5 and laptop are still pretty new.

I uninstalled iTunes and re-installed it but that didn't do sht.

I'm worried that I'll have to update to iOS 7. But what if I do update and it still doesn't sync… I'll be even more annoyed because I really do not want iOS 7.

  • Would syncing my iphone with Itunes unlock it? I stupidly forgot my password and have locked my iphone. I have tried my password a certain amount of times that it has now ask me to connect to itunes, which I have. If I sync them again, would it unlock the phone or do I have to restore it?
  • Why isn't my iPhone 4S syncing to iTunes on my computer? It has been working fine until a little while ago and it will connect to my computer so I can get my photos off but it won't connect to iTunes.
  • Syncing Problem to iphone 5? Okay, so on my computer, i have about 1000 songs. After i sync to my iPhone 5, it says i only have about 900. Why is this? Also, songs that i put on my computer from a cd won't play for some reason.
  • Syncing iPhone songs onto iTunes? Okay so what I want to do is make ringtones on my iPhone 4s. But in order to do that I have to sync my iPhone to iTunes. Which I haven't done yet with my phone. I have 60 songs that i bought on itunes store on my phone but I don't want to lose them. And i heard if I sync my phone to the computer that it will wipe everything out of it? So is there any way to sync the songs and all the apps and media from my phone onto itunes on my laptop?
