Should I get a Mac or PC laptop for college?
I'll be a high school senior in September and I figured I should start looking into a new laptop for college. The majors I'm looking into are pharmacology, physical therapy, architecture, psychology or journalism. I also plan on taking German and also another foreign language. I'm not a gamer unless you count occasionally playing The Sims.
I currently have a Lenovo computer with Windows 7 on it. I find it easy to use. I've used mostly Windows computers all my life (only actually used a Mac a handful of times).
I've heard that Macs can be a little bit safer (less prone to viruses and stuff). I feel it would be pretty easy for me to get used to a Mac. I have an iPad and iPhone and I haven't been disappointed by Apple products.
The maximum amount I'd be willing to spend is about $1200. Pretty much the only Macs I could get are an 11-inch or 13-inch Macbook Air or a 13-inch Macbook Pro. I know I can get a pretty nice PC for $1200 (my $400 one does what I want it to, but it can be a little slow and sometimes has issues connecting to wi-fi).
So, which do you think would be better for a college student? Music is a big part of my life, as well, and I might do some video editing for fun on the side (though I could just do it on my iPad or phone).
I think a Mac would be the best way to go my sister has had hers for a long time and she has never had any problems with it and yes macs usually never get viruses because they have virus protection and yes they may cost more but they last for a long time! And they are pretty easy to use so you shouldn't have any problems!
Its upto your choice and preference. I have both a Mac Pro and a PC with windows 8. I worked on both and love to find different features on my Mac.
- Which computer should I get for college? I'll be going into engineering. I've traditionally been a windows person, but I'm thinking about getting a Mac, especially since I got an iPhone about 7 months ago and I love it. I also am thinking about getting a Windows 8 tablet/iPad, since they look cool, but i don't know if they are as capable as laptops are. What do you think?
- What tablet should i buy for college? - 1 I have a Macbook Pro and an iPhone 5. That's why I was thinking of getting the iPad 5 when it comes out in the summer. But what other tablet is best for college? I was also thinking about the Galaxy Note 10.1 because of the pen… What about the Nexus 10? Powerful and cheap, but no stylus and laggy. Transformer Prime? Pretty good, I haven't heard anything horrible so far. Any other tablets?
- What's the best laptop for an incoming college student? I'm going to college this fall and I'm torn between a laptop like the dell xps 13 or the Macbook air 13'. I really like the touchscreen option for the dell, but I like apple products, even though I've only ever used an iPad and iPhone. I might use products like photoshop and blendr for fun. I'm so torn. Are MacBooks easy to get used to? Is a touch screen helpful? Which laptop do I get?
- What laptop should I get for college? I'm getting a laptop for college and I'm not sure which one to get. I'm a pretty big gamer, movie watcher, and youtuber so I thought the Alienware would be my best bet. But I do have an iphone and I love what apple has been producing, so I would also think a mac book would help me out. I really only need a laptop for a couple online courses and to write papers. But I want a gaming laptop because the new consoles coming out don't look to great, especially the xbox one.
