Slight water damage to iPhone?
I ski usually 100-150 days per season, which is pretty much every day there's snow on the ground. Because of this my iPhone gets a lot of indirect dampness and such from being in my pocket. It's had the water sensor bars as red since I dropped it in a parking lot last winter but everything works fine. Literally the only problem I've had is it won't turn off completely, it just restarts. Since iOS 7 was released my battery drains a lot faster and I'm unable to turn my phone off in order to save battery so that's been a bit annoying. However the thing that's really been making my concerned is it periodically makes a hissing/sizzling noise from the inside of my phone. The speaker works, it charges just fine, and it couldn't even possibly have gotten wet at all since last May as far as I know. It's sitting in a bowl with rice right now just because I'm really worried it'll blow up or there might be some water in it?
I'm 15, I've had it for almost two years now, I'm on Verizon, I pay for my own phone, and I think that's about all the information people will need…
Also if anyone knows of good waterproof cases that is definitely something I need for this phone or if I have to get a new one for the upcoming ski season.
Added (1). Note: When I dropped it, it wasn't onto concrete or anything it was into a light fluffy snowbank next to my friends car haha
I work construction, and use the otter box. I have dropped in puddle of standing mud and no damage. My case is 2 years old and technically isn't waterproof. I peeled the case apart(just snaps apart) and phone was clean except a few spots on the speaker bar, which dried within the hour. The new otter boxes now are truly water tight. A coworker dropped his phone in the water truck with the new otter box case and had to drain the truck before he could get his phone out, and came out after 15min dry as the desert sun.
- Why do they use slight knock off products on icarly? Why do they use slight knockoffs on icarly that are almost the same thing as the real product? For ex: they use Pear Phones instead of iPhones and Splashface instead of Facebook. If Nickelodeon gets permission from Facebook and Apple to use their product, can't they use the real thing?
- My iPhone 4 suffered heavy water damage, will it be okay? I went in the pool with it not realizing it was in my pocket. I was in the pool for about 5-10 minutes before I realized it was in my pocket. It was on when I went in the pool but was off when I got out. I now have it sitting in a bowl of rice and I plan on leaving it in there for a week, changing the rice it's in every 24 hours. Does anyone have any insight on this, like if there's any hope of it being okay or is it done for?
- Iphone water indicators not pink, still possible water damage? Hypothetically, if you got your iphone 4s wet, but the water indicators are not triggered at all, is it still possible the phone has water damage on the inside that apple would find if they took it apart?
- Iphone submerged in water, logic board has water damage? My phone was under water for 10 sec. Atleast and in my wet pocket for about 2 minutes. Led wouldnt turn off and power / lock button didn't work… Put it in rice and two days later i charge it apple logo pops up then writing pops up above the apple logo. Will the guy taking my phone to clean it out and try to fix it need my passcode? And will my contacts, apps, photos, music, internet history still be on my phone? Like when he fixes it turns and on and stuff?
