Yes alot of benefits, jailbreaking means you can get free games, the same games you would pay for on the apple store are their for free. You can also customize your iphone over the limit (fonts, colors, stuff like that.)

Jailbreaking is basically "unlocking" your device from the restrictions apple put on it with their iOS firmware.
Many people claim it is illegal and will void the warranty, but this is NOT true. It is completely legal, although installing pirated applications (which don't work on a non-jailbroken device) on a jailbroken device is still illegal. The warranty is NOT void, but apple will refuse to offer support if it is jailbroken. The jailbreak is REMOVABLE and there's no trace after it's removed, so if you require support then you can remove the jailbreak and jailbreak again after.
All applications in the App Store are "signed" by apple so they work. Jailbreaking lets you run unsigned applications. This allows you to install applications that are very useful, but do not conform to apples policy for having an app listed in the app store.
When you jailbreak an app called Cydia will be installed automatically. This is like another app store. The apps come from various databases called repositories. There are a few that are already there, but there are many more you can add in Cydia.
The packages in Cydia have many uses. You can download themes for your device to improve the way it looks, there are tweaks to existing features like not using to hold the home button to use Siri. You can add extra security to your device by asking for passcodes on specific apps, and you can assign different passcodes to different apps. You can add shortcuts to toggle settings, such as enabling/disabling Wi-Fi, 3G, airplane mode etc or changing the brightness.
Jailbreaking also unlocks access to the iPhones file system. This allows you to store files on the device that you wouldn't be able to usually. You can add files to email attachments, and download email attachments and save to a location of your choice.
It's really hard to explain all the possible features as there are so many, you really need to experience it for yourself you get a real idea how it works. It can be confusing at first, but you will soon learn how to use it and you can always find new cool things in Cydia.
Most packages from Cydia are free, but others you have to pay for (can be gotten for free, more on that in a minute), and you can pay via PayPal or Amazon. Once you buy a package you can use it on any device that supports it. Licences are managed by Cydia, you just need to log into a Google or Facebook account and then sign into Amazon or PayPal to pay.
The packages can be got for free as with apps, but to do this you need to add other repositories to your Cydia library. Remember, buying apps and packages helps support the developers so they can keep making cool stuff for you to use! If you want to try a package before you buy it then download it for free, and if you like it pay for it later.

I normally watch AHS once a week with my kid. This week, she told me to go watch it in my own room. I told her my TV wasn't working and we would just have to watch it in her room. She turned off the TV so that I couldn't watch it. Then, she pompously pulled out her iPhone and proceeded to watch it on her iPhone. What would you do if this happened to you?
