Thinking about getting iPod for my 12 YO daughter. Is it any good?
She's pestering me to buy her a phone on her birthday next month but I don't think she's ready for a cellular phone hence I'm thinking about buying her an iPod 2019, to at least get her started.
The iPod is relatively much cheaper than iPhones ($200 for the base model) and comes with Wi-Fi and iMessage which I think would be enough for her. Plus, I won't have to pay for another line as well which is always a plus.
Anyhow, my wife thinks that we should just buy her a proper iPhone without a SIM Card which she will use as an iPod until she gets a bit mature (~14 YO) but I know for a fact that she'll start forcing us to get her a line with cellular data the moment she'd get her hands on the iPhone hence I'm not entirely sold on the idea. Besides, the iPhone will be two year old by then and she is very careless about her possessions so it'll probably be half broken by that time, if not lost (Or stolen).
So what do you think? Do you have other suggestions? My family exclusively use iMessage and Facetime for communication so no Samsung phones and/or feature phones for me, thanks.
Yes, I got my 11 year old son an iPod Touch for his birthday back in December and it works great, it can do most things the iPhone could do, the iPod should work fine.
Don't buy an iPhone (yet). An iPod Touch* is better than nothing for her to own a technology.
- Thinking of getting the iphone 4s? Please don't tell me to get the newer ones because i just want the 4s thanks. Any review or what you think of the iphone 4s would be really helpful, how easy it breaks, how long it lasts, how slow it is, what apps etc What was it's price when it first came out in UK pounds? What is its price now if you buy the phone without a contract? Anything else
- Thinking of getting refurbished iPhone 5? My phone is a slow, outdated Android phone and I wanted to try an iPhone. The newest model is quite expensive so I think I ll get the 5 instead. IIm planning to use it for 1-2 years, do you think it's still supported by Apple?
- Thinking of getting new iPhone - will old iPhone work as an iPod without sim? Am eligible for upgrade and was thinking of giving current iPhone 4 to 8 year old to use as an iPod. Will it work without a sim?
- Thinking of getting a new device, what to do with old one? So I've had an iPod touch 3G for like a few years since my parents got it for me as a birthday present. But now that I got a job and earning money I've been thinking lately of getting an iPhone 5 or another more updated device since they are so much more faster and better! So I was thinking, what should I do with my outdated iPod touch 3G when I get a new device? Destroying it seems like a waste so what are something's I could do?
