Unlocked iPhone 4/4s still able to use with AT&T?

My uncle has an old iPhone 4/4s (I don't remember which one) and it's an unlocked phone. Let's say he gives it to me and I have AT&T. Though it's unlocked, can I still use it with AT&T and update the phone's iOS regularly? Because I know that if you have an unlocked phone for let's say, T-Mobile, you can't update because that'll mess up your jailbreaking stuff.

It depends on the iphone if it was originally used for verizon than no. If it was used with at&t then unlocked than yes

It depends. If it was unlocked threw a jailbreak or threw a company. A jailbreak unlock would be lose in an update. A factory unlock will never be lost. If it was a Verizon or Sprint Iphone then you can't.

Because it is unlocked it will be able to work with any GSM carrier. Even if it was still locked it will be able to work with AT&T.

In the T-Mobile case it depends on how the unlock was done. If it is a software unlock, which usually involves jailbreaking then yes you would have to wait for those tools to update as well to be able to unlock again, but if it is factory unlocked, like it is sounding in this case then you wouldn't have to worry as nothing will undo that unlock.

If its a GSM model if not nope! Also is it has a SIM card slot get a prepaid SIM card with AT&T cut it a bit an put it in the iPhone.

  • Will i still be able to use my iphone in another country without jailbreaking? I bought my iphone4 in japan since i was living there for sometime. But I've moved to a different country now. And I want to use the network provided.i'm still using ios4 and i feel like my iphone has been a lot more slower than it used to. Some tell me that in order to use it in a different country i need to jailbreak it but i want to update it to ios5. Will i still be able to use it if I update it to ios5?
  • Will I still be able to use my iphone 5? I bought an iPhone 5 2 days ago. The phone was brand new and never been used. It's on a contract and instead of paying the contract (which isn't my contract its the guy who sold me it) i want to put my own nano sim in it. Will I be able to do this? It is on O2 network and I'm on tmobile so if I get it unlocked will i be able to put my own sim in it without O2 blocking the phone?
  • Will an iPhone with NO CARRIER still be able to use iMessage? I had an iPhone 4S, but canceled the plan on it completely. I was with Bell. When I got my iPhone 6S I switched to Koodo, and therefore have a new phone #. For some reason I assumed my old phone would still work for iMessage, and am only now wondering if it won't. Where the carrier is usually displayed, my 4S says "No Service" but is connected to Wi-Fi. Can an iPhone with no carrier still send and receive iMessages from the old phone number?
  • What type of SIM card do i need to be able to use my unlocked iPhone? I got an unlocked iPhone & I want to be able to make unlimited calls, text & a new number but what kind of SIM card will I need to get & where would I get it?
