Will I still be able to use my iphone 5?

I bought an iPhone 5 2 days ago. The phone was brand new and never been used. It's on a contract and instead of paying the contract (which isn't my contract its the guy who sold me it) i want to put my own nano sim in it. Will I be able to do this? It is on O2 network and I'm on tmobile so if I get it unlocked will i be able to put my own sim in it without O2 blocking the phone?

If you get the phone unlocked it works with any simcard. If he got the contract off carphone wearhouse it be unlocked or phones for you.

It won't get blocked unless the guy who sold it to you reports it as lost/stolen. Check with O2 about their terms and conditions as if the contract doesn't get paid in full, o2 might be able to block it - unsure if this will be the case, but always best to check with them on their live help.

  • Will i still be able to use my iphone in another country without jailbreaking? I bought my iphone4 in japan since i was living there for sometime. But I've moved to a different country now. And I want to use the network provided.i'm still using ios4 and i feel like my iphone has been a lot more slower than it used to. Some tell me that in order to use it in a different country i need to jailbreak it but i want to update it to ios5. Will i still be able to use it if I update it to ios5?
  • Will I still be able to buy an iPhone 5 from an Apple Store? The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C were released today. From what I understand, the iPhone 5C has replaced the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5 will be discontinued. Will the remaining iPhone 5 devices in retail stores be available for sale at a lower price?
  • Will an iPhone with NO CARRIER still be able to use iMessage? I had an iPhone 4S, but canceled the plan on it completely. I was with Bell. When I got my iPhone 6S I switched to Koodo, and therefore have a new phone #. For some reason I assumed my old phone would still work for iMessage, and am only now wondering if it won't. Where the carrier is usually displayed, my 4S says "No Service" but is connected to Wi-Fi. Can an iPhone with no carrier still send and receive iMessages from the old phone number?
  • Unlocked iPhone 4/4s still able to use with AT&T? My uncle has an old iPhone 4/4s (I don't remember which one) and it's an unlocked phone. Let's say he gives it to me and I have AT&T. Though it's unlocked, can I still use it with AT&T and update the phone's iOS regularly? Because I know that if you have an unlocked phone for let's say, T-Mobile, you can't update because that'll mess up your jailbreaking stuff.
