Updating an unlocked iPhone?
I have a friend that bought an iPhone 4 on eBay and its unlocked. I'm looking to update it but don't know it it would lock him out from his carrier t moble. Any help thank you.
That depends if is factory unlocked you wouldn't have a problem, but if you are using the "gevey card" then yes just make sure that is unlocked
the only way is to go apple.com go to your account and enter the IMEI serial number it will tell you there if is lock to certain company or provider
If the phone is software unlocked, it will get locked back to it original carrier. If the phone is factory unlocked, it will not have any issues with locking.
Since it is already iPhone Factory Unlock, it won't be a problem if you update it. The Unlock will retain even if you unlock it.
- Will updating my unlocked iPhone 3GS lock it again? My phone is on 4.1 and I wish to update it can I do so without it locking again? And if so can I do it on iTunes?
- Will updating my iPhone apps affect my phone speed as how updating the Operating System (OS) will? Currently I'm using the iPhone 5s on iOS 8.3 I know if I were to update my phone to the latest OS I may notice some slowdown on my phone's performance, since it may not have the "muscle" to handle certain functions. Many apps now are optimised for iOS 9 and/or the 6th generation phones. Will my 5s' speed performance slow down if I update my apps? Will the app's performance slow down?
- Will an unlocked iphone 4S work for tmobile if it isn't factory unlocked? I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.
- Updating unlocked iPhone 4 to latest ios without losing carrier? I have an iPhone 4, not 4s, and the current ios is 4.0.2., and the current carrier is T-Mobile. I need too know if updating it will take out the carrier and/or brick my phone.
