Will updating my unlocked iPhone 3GS lock it again?
My phone is on 4.1 and I wish to update it can I do so without it locking again? And if so can I do it on iTunes?
Most likely, unless yours was factory unlocked.
Did you unlock it via itunes with a factory unlock or was it done by jailbreaking, installing a custom base band then ultrasnow?
If the second one is right, DO NOT UPGRADE via itunes, you will brick your phone! You need to create a custom IPSW to preserve your base band.
If the first one is right, your good to go. Just update and you will retain your unlock.
That fully depends on *how* your iPhone got unlocked. If it was unlocked using a jailbreak, it will be locked again once you update iOS. If it was unlocked with a proper factory unlock directly by your carrier or one of the big online vendors like http://www.cellfservices.com/ it will stay unlocked, even if you upgrade iOS.
Unless it was factoy unlocked.
