Using my iPhone 5 abroad without extra charge?
So basically I'm going on holiday soon to Spain for two weeks. I recently got an iPhone 5, which I want to take with me, mainly for the camera but also for music. But obviously I don't want to get heavily charged - As this has happened before with previous phones. I'm just wondering if I keep my phone on Air plane mode for the whole holiday, will that stop me from being able to receive texts/phone calls, and from being able to use the Internet? If so, does this mean I can't get charged any extra? Also, the villa I'm going to be staying in has FREE Wi-Fi, can I connect to Wi-Fi while on Air plane mode? When at the Villa, and iMessage my boyfriend who also has an iPhone 5, as this is done through Wi-Fi, so they won't be any extra charge will there?
Airplane mode blocks Wi-Fi. You need to set up a divert so all calls go to voicemail, and set up a message asking people to text you if urgent. Texts are free to receive. Don't use the phone to make any calls, and don't answer any when abroad. Turn off 3G/data service (IMPORTANT) and use the free Wi-Fi for internet. A bit restrictive, but no sudden charges.
- Will using my iPhone's hotspot cost extra money? I have an iPhone 4s (which is up to date on all IOS updates) and I have the unlimited data plan at AT&T. I'm leaving for a road trip tomorrow, and I wanted to turn the hotspot on so I could use that Wi-Fi on my laptop during the trip so I won't get bored. It says I need to set up an account for it, which I will do later… But would any extra charges be added to my bill?
- Will T-Mobile charge me extra for texting out of the country? One of my friends is in Egypt. She texted me last night and I hesitated to reply because I was afraid that they would charge me like $20 since its Egypt. I ended up replying once and now i'm afraid. My mom will kill me if they charge a lot. However, I have unlimited texting and she texted me from an app which is from the iphone i think… Will they charge me?
- Will I get charged for using my iPhone abroad? I'm going to Holland tomorrow and I was wondering if I would get charged for taking my phone with me? I'm on a pay monthly contract but it doesn't include roaming/ international things… I'm with the 3 network if that makes a difference… I won't be calling anyone or making texts but I'll probably be using Wi-Fi? Will I get charged just for taking my phone to a different country even if I don't use it at all? Any help appreciated, Thanks.

I'm going to Spain at the end of the week and I want to use the internet on my phone while I'm there, I've been looking at the internet boosters and wondered how much internet 50mb is? I have an iPhone and I use it for the internet a lot especially Facebook, Twitter and Youtube if that helps. I found the prices of the boosters but what I want to know is how much usage I'll get if I buy the 50mb of internet.
