Using Prepaid SIM card in MEXICO?
Hi, I'm a student who is heading to Queretaro, Mexico for an exchange. Can I check what's the cost of prepaid sim card in Mexico and which are the companies that have better coverage? I'm looking to use the card for both domestic(mainly) and international phone call, and preferably, with 3G coverage.
In addition, I'm travelling over to LA and AZ, USA after my 6 weeks in Mexico, can I also check which prepaid SIM card to get? I'm using an iphone 4s.
I'm not sure about using an iPhone 4 because it uses the smaller sim cards. I know you can buy the regular sized sim cards for Telcel's pay as you go Amigo system all over the place including OXXO stores. They may have the small cards, I'm not sure but I just haven't seen them. You may need to go to an actual Telcel office to get the smaller sim card.
Your iPhone 4 would likely need to be unlocked to.
There are other companies but I've only used Telcel so I can't tell you about them. If you went to a larger mall in any medium to large city I would think you would be able to find at least a couple of choices for cell carriers either with actual store front/office space or at least with kiosks.
- Will my iPhone work in Mexico with Telcel Sim? Well my iPhone has been blacklisted by my parents and since its unlocked I was wondering since I'm going to Mexico for vacation would it work there with a Telcel sim (It's an AT&T iPhone) or is it blacklisted by AT&T globally?
- Will I be able to transfer my contract from a regular Sim card to a Micro Sim card? I want to buy an iPhone 4S on T-mobile, but my current T-mobile sim card is a regular one that would not fit in to the iPhone 4S. Would I be able to somehow move my contract on to the new Micro Sim?
- Will cutting my sim card work to use as a micro sim card? I just ordered an iPhone 4 and I need to cut the sim card to make it a Micro sim. Will it affect it. I have seen a bunch of video and already have the template it for it. I'm using simple mobile. Do you know if anything wrong happen to it?
- Is there a prepaid plan I can use with my 3GS using my AT&T SIM card? I know that StraightTalk has gone all screwy for us AT&T iPhone users. I really don't want to have to buy a new SIM card from anyone, especially not at the supply-and-demand prices one now faces in the mobile phone world. If I can keep my number, that'd be just too groovy for words; I don't really expect to be able to though.
