Wait for iPhone 5s or try another smartphone?

I've currently got an iPhone4 (old, I know) and have been due for an upgrade for 3 months. I've been wanting the iPhone 5s but am growing sick of waiting. I could order it, but it seems several phones have been reported to have battery problems making the wait longer. No stores in my area have it nor do they know when they will. Dec. The latest. After iOS7 I was turned off by Apple. I also can't stand the lack of battery hold they all seem to have. I use my phone ALOT. I don't have a computer, so my phone is my life line. I also hate how just having an iPhone on Verizon jacks up your monthly bill because of the data packages you need. I did have a Motorola Droid back in 2010 which was a lot cheaper monthly. I'm really lost in what to do here. Should I make the switch? Or wait it out? Besides the finger print scanner, better camera and slightly bigger screen- I don't see what all the excitement is about. Anyone who knows their phones, please give me your advice.

I think htc one's are great.especially the mini ones. The battery lasts VERY long and it is slim, smooth and comfortable to use. They get really hot though but that's not really a problem lol

unfortunately, i have lost mine for a week now AND I Can't FIND IT ANYWHERE!

yeah, so in conclusion, they're great phones but you could lose them easily cause they're really light and slim… Barely visible!

5S is the best phone out there imo. Actually with your 4 you can trade it in now, so you get something back for it and don't have the hassle of selling on your own.

Try another

If you want the iP5s & get something else simply because you're 'sick of waiting,' you'll regret it. Remember you are committing to whatever phone you choose for 2 years. Even if you have to wait 2 more months (which you won't if you order now), it'll be worth it rather than being 6 mos into a contract with a phone you 'settled for'.

Also, there's no difference in cost for Verizon's plans between Android & iPhone. If you paid less when you had the DROID back in 2010, it's because you agreed to change something (increased minutes, increased data, etc.). If you get a DROID now, your bill will not decrease unless your intentionally lower your plan.

The main differences between iPhone 4 & iPhone 5s are the screen size, computer processor, global capabilities (you can't use the 4 in most other countries, you can the 5s), and probably most importantly: the 5s is a 4G phone, the 4 is not.

As someone who is in the industry and familiar with phones & plans, my professional opinion is that IOS/Apple has fallen behind Android in technology & features. If you're considering Android, I would take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S3 or S4 (both are excellent), Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or 3 (again, both excellent), the HTC One, or the Motorola DROID Maxx or Ultra.
