What are the benefits of buying icloud storage?

I'm wondering because like is it worth it paying $0.99 cents a month for 50 gb? What if after you don't pay do you still keep the 50 u paid for or how exactly does it work? If anybody can help and explain please thank you!

IPhone is lame

You get the storage only as long as you keep up the payments.

If you stop paying, you lose whatever you stored in that "cloud".

A dollar a month is cheap enough, but I don't use "cloud" storage.

One problem I see is that "the cloud" is actually a bank of computer servers.
If that system fails, goes offline, or is damaged or destroyed,
you won't have access to what you stored in it.

As is often the case, There Are Better Ways.

Only real reason for added online storage is to have access to all that stored data 24/7 from more than one device. I say buy an external hard drive, 2 to 3 terabytes, to dump text, pictures, videos and the like to it, and that way you can still have 24/7 access (via a net connection and VPN), if you want or need it.
