What are the chances of my Iphone surviving water?

I dropped it in a toilet.yeah. It was in my backpocket and i completely forgot about it.
It turned off by itself and seemed dead. After about 3 hours I got it to a professional to repair it. He opened it, dried it and said no corrosion happened and he will do everything he can to fix it. I'm supposed to find out on Tuesday if it's gonna survive. I'm gonna be left without a phone til June if it's dead. Should I be optimistic?

I would say there's about a 30% chance it lives. You should of put it in some rice before, but its in the hands of a professional.

That must have been embarrassing to tell someone who does that professionally how the damage occurred.

It's a 50/50 chance, nobody really knows the answer to this question. I dropped my blackberry in water before, and I just dried it with a blow dryer and it was fine… I had an Itouch before and somebody pushed me into a pool, and it submerged for about a second, and i jumped out, it looked fine for a few seconds and then it shut off by itself, and it never would come back on… Usually if it shuts off like that, that means the water fried the insides. It might not work.
