What are the right running shoes for me?
I want to start running to build stamina. Never been a runner to be honest. Just in middle school when we would run the mile, that's the last time I gave an effort to running. Which was about ten years ago. I'm a beginner runner so of course I'm not going to be running 10 miles or 20 which I've read people give reviews on. I want to buy some running shoes but there are so many out there that I'm confused. I see reebok, nike free runs, and others. I really like how the nike free runs look. Of course I don't want hideous shoes, I want nice decent looking shoes as well as comfort. I plan on running around my neighborhood and at the park. So I guess uphill downhill, and on cement. Maybe at the park on grass as well, if I have to run at night. I have an iphone and I have the nike app, and I've been told that you buy a chip that you insert to your shoe and it tracks your performance. So what shoe will I look into, and what do I look for when trying on. I get discounts at finishline so if I could find a shoe there, that'd be great. NO arch problems or anything. Just want the right shoe for a beginner runner running around neighborhood and park. No hiking or trails for me.
I see a lot of free runs out there and like how they look. What free run is right for me. I like the 4.0 to be honest, would that be a good shoe to run on cement, and grass? Open to any recommendations from you guys! Thanks in advance and please no bashing, I'm giving you my opinion with respect so please do the same when commenting.
I'm a Nike Employee, so I have my preferences.
But I highly suggest you go visit your local Footwear Store. If you go to your local Nike Store, the workers are trained to answer exactly these questions, and you'll be able to try them on to find the ones that feel best to you.
I'm a big fan of the Free Runs myself, and have several pairs.
Since you are a just starting out running the first shoe you get is very key. The first running shoe i got I have stayed with and just kept getting the new model that has come out. The type of shoe you would mostly want would be one that has characteristics that give you comfort, support, and cushioning. Remember just because it has a nike logo or looks nice means its a good shoe. (happened to me once I got a cool looking one but i got foot problems) To answer the nike sensor question: Nike + shoes contain a small opening under the sole of the shoe to put a small chip you purchase into and it tracks your run. To use this it should be a nike shoe. Nikes free run and 4.0 are good shoes but they do not have the best cushioning. As a new runner you could confront foot problems because your stride and running style is odd and these shoes may not be the best. If it is alright I would like to recommend the Nike Lunarglide +3 Breathe. It provides what your looking for and my friends who run have said they like this shoe. Hope this helps.
- Why won't my Nike + shoes calibrate to my iPhone 4s? Do I need a receiver or something? It told me to walk around to activate the sensor but i walked around for a good 15 minutes and it didn't calibrate… Am i doing something wrong or is there another gadget i need?
- What's the best running app for iphone? Okay, so I've got iPhone 3g (yes, it's old, I know). I'm looking for some app to help me improve my running skills. The problem is that most of apps are probably suited only for newer operation systems. I wanted to ask you if there's any left for my ancient version of iPhone?
- Nike iD women's customisable shoes, size mix up when add to cart? Hi so I just designed my Nike shoes, Nike dunk high iD, and I put in my size (uk) and then added to cart and it changed to 3 sizes down? Is it changed from American or European sizes to British or vise versa? Do I trust what it says in the cart or do I trust what size I picked? Is there some way of working this out? I've tried on an iPhone and Samsung tablet but iPhone goes up in size tablet goes down, I don't get it, what do I do? Had anyone else had this?
- Nike and iPhone shoes/sensor? I heard about getting a certain pair of Nike shoes and you can sync them with your iPhone or something. Well I want to look into this, I have an iPhone 4S if that matters. But ABOUT how much do these shoes cost? Does the sensor thing come with it or bought separately? If so, how much is the sensor? Where can I buy these shoes and/or sensor?
