What cameras have similar quality as Iphone 5?

I'm looking for a camera for portrait and scenery photos. I really like the quality of my phone, but I would like something with better zoom that I can put a strap on and get a lot closer. Any ideas? It does not need to be super fancy and expensive, just similar to my phone.

* no optical zoom
* no control of the shutter speed or lens aperture
* ISO is totally automatic (NOT a good thing)
* no control of the white balance.

P&S cameras still have small sensors, but offer
* optical zooms
* some control over the shutter speed or lens aperture depending upon the camera you buy
* control of the ISO settings
* decent control of white balance

Fully adjustable cameras like dSLR cameras offer
* fixed and zoom interchangeable lenses
* full control using the lens aperture and shutter speed
* full control over the camera sensor ISO
* ability to set custom white balance.

Look for a P&S camera which as at least a 5x optical zoom.

If your budget is large enough, look at some of the small EVIL cameras, small enough to place in your brief case or purse, yet can use interchangeable lenses

You iPhone probably does get good photos in good light. I'm sure it struggles in low light, so I'm going to suggest a camera that will match the good light of your iPhone but does much better in low light. The Nikon Coolpix P330 is such a camera.
