What can I do with 10 mb of data while travelling?
I will be going overseas for vacation for 2 weeks and my current phone provider FIDO (I live in Canada) offers three different international one-month data passes for a one time fee. They are all pretty pricey so I was just going to go with the $50 plan for 10 MB pass but then started worrying 10 MB will not be enough and I'll end up going over anyway.
Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what 10 MB will give you? I know it depends on what you are using internet for and how many pictures etc are being loaded or sent but in general, i was just going to use internet to check/send my email, check facebook and send text messages. My text messages will have to be iMessages (iphone to iphone messages) since I won't be getting an international text plan so those will use up data too. I will NOT be watching videos, using google map or sending messages/emails containing pictures.
I have an iphone 4S with 8G storage if that makes a difference.
Also, does anyone know what i'm supposed to turn on and off in order to use overseas data passes but not be charged unknowingly like those scary stories you always hear about? In Settings --> General --> Cellular, there are 3 options i can turn on and off:
Cellular Data
Enable 3G
Data Roaming
Fido online or on telephone can't seem to provide me with any solid answers and just told me to ask someone in one of their stores: S
Maybe read 3 emails, check facebook 1 time.
- Will my iPhone change time travelling to the Philippines? I just want to know if my iPhone alarm or time will change automatically to Philippine time? I'm travelling to the Philippines next week and I have to take my birth control with me. I usually take my pills at 10PM (Vancouver time). I don't know what time to take it in the Philippines. I usually put an alarm on my phone to remind to myself to take my pills. But i don't know if it will effect my phone when I travel.
- Which camera should I bring? Studying abroad in London/Travelling Europe? I have these options: a DSLR Nikon camera, a Sony videocamera (small), or should I buy a digital camera? In addition, i'm bringing my iPhone 5s, which has pretty good quality as well. I'm just afraid I'll lose my DSLR, should I buy a digital camera or take the small videocamera? Suggestions? I will be studying for a semester in London and traveling to a few countries in Europe as well.
- What to do with iPhone while travelling abroad? I'm going to Italy for vacation and I want to bring my iPhone without getting massive phone bills. I'm not gonna call or text but only use it for music, pictures and Wi-Fi. Am I safe if I just turn off data and put my phone on airplane mode?
- What should I turn off/on on my iPhone when travelling abroad? I'm going to Germany for a few days and I'm taking my O2 Pay and Go iPhone5 but what settings should I turn on or off so I don't get charged a stupid amount or use all my top up money? I'm guessing data roaming should be turned off for a start. I do want to post pictures while I'm there though too, should I only do this when I can find a Wi-Fi signal to connect to?
