What happens if i update my iphone 4 to iOS 5? Or 6?

I haven't updated it since i got it because i'm scared something's gonna happen.

• What will happen to my apps? Will all the saved data be erased?
• How about my pictures, email, contacts, etc. Will those all be deleted or?
• How long does it take to update?
• I heard that with the update, all the pictures you take go to icloud so like contacts or something can see it? That's weird… If it's true, how would i disable that?

Thanks. I don't know, I'm paranoid about this. I don't update bc i don't wanna lose anything.

1. Nothing will be deleted
2. Depends on Internet connection (took me about 10-15 minutes)
3. You can disable iCloud from settings

Your apps and data should be fine. You can back your iPhone up on iTunes before you update, to be extra sure. You will probably be able to get more up to date apps after you update, as many of the new apps released require at least iOS5. As for the time it could take probably 15-20 minutes at the most. You can easily disable the shared photo stream function in Settings -> Photo & Camera. Although you can share photos with other people, it's more of an online backup service really. Also Apple do encrypt any photos that are on your photo stream. Don't worry it's perfectly natural to feel worried about loosing any data when you update something. But just do a iTunes backup first and all should be fine.
