What Internet speed do I need?
Me and my friend live in an apartment together. We recently moved in and haven't decided what Internet speed we need. We both have Xboxes with Xbox Live and both have iPhones and we use Netflix. We upload and watch YouTube very frequently. What's a speed to run Xbox Live for both of us and be uploading YouTube?
Depending on your exact location and how much you can pay per month, i would definitely go with cable internet, their 18 mega bits per second download /2-2.5 mega bits per second upload plan will be perfect for you and your friend's needs, but if thats too much money, i would go with dsl's 6 mega bits per second plan, 768kb upload, this will still be fairly fast for you and your friends needs. Try to see if you can find the central office for the telephone company, if its close to 1 mile away or less, i would go with dsl because if their plan says 6 mega bits per second for download, you will probably get around 8 mega bits per second or more, download of about 768kbps still which is still ok.fiber optic internet is also a good choice if not too expensive.
- Why is my internet speed slow? So I have a netgear router and recently, anything connected to it has had really slow connection speed. My computer (which is wired) and my iPhone (which uses Wi-Fi) both can't load YouTube videos without constant buffering and low res. If it helps I'm with plusnet and just their standard internet service. Not sure what to do as I think I've tried everything
- Why does my laptop get such bad internet download speed while my Iphone gets 10 times more? My router is downstairs connected to a Windows vista PC. That PC connected with an ethernet cable gets around 90-100Mbs download speed. I did another speed test on my iphone upstairs next to my laptop, and it got 80-90 Mbs. But When I did the speed test on my laptop, it was only 10Mbs down. It's really annoying because it takes like a billion years to open youtube and everything lags.

- What internet speed should I order? - 1 I'm looking at up to 3Mbps for $29.99 per month or up to 15Mbps for $34.99 per month, before taxes and fees. I don't want to pay for more than I need, but I want to have enough speed to do what I need to. I'm a college student and I watch lectures online streaming and I have to download and upload homework assignments as well. I also stream Netflix and connect my iPhone to Wi-Fi when I get home. Which would be better for me?
