What is a good app to use to text for free internationally for the IPhone?

I'm going to Mexico in a week and I want to be able to communicate (text, calls) with family in the US while i'm there. What is a good app to download for an Iphone that would be completely free for me and the other person?

If the people you are trying to communicate with are smartphone users too, I'd say whatsapp is your best bet. If you're trying to text from a number instead then get Pinger Text Free. They give you a free number and the other person does not need to have the same app or even a smartphone. They both work on Wi-Fi so no need for a data plan. That's as far as texting options, they allow for calls too but I've never tried them. An excellent app to make free phone calls is iCall, sound quality is good and there no charges whatsoever. Bad thing is I think the limit per call is 5 minutes since they're free and the other person receives the call from a weird number, they might not recognize it's you.

  • Traveling internationally, iPhone is sending iMessages but not text messages? I'm from America but I'm living in the UK for a while. My iPhone will send iMessages with or without Wi-Fi, but will never send regular texts to android phones. This was happening when I had my American SIM card as well as my new UK SIM card. Any suggestions?
  • Is tbere any major différence between thé iPhone 6 and the 6s? Whooppeee is Xmas again and my daughter wants new 2nd hand) iPhone… 2 years ago almost bought her 5 before i réaliséd that it was 5s she wanted ( cos thé 5 sucks?) And I don't want to screw up this year…
  • Is it free to use IMessage with your data internationally? Or is that only using Wi-Fi? I have a friend who is from Canada and I'm from the US. And he has an iPhone and so do i. He said that we can text on our phones for free internationally using iMessage, but what I've heard is that it's only free if you're using Wi-Fi. What about your data? Is it still free when I go out and am away from Wi-Fi and use my data? My messages still appear blue when I message him with my data but I'm concerned that it's not completely free when doing so.
  • Is iMessage on iphone free internationally? I'm going out of the USA if a few days and is iMessage free internationally? Will i be charged if my leave my "Cellular Data" is on, meaning i will only be using Wi-Fi?
