What is ebay monthly seller fees?

I'm a new ebay seller, i sold my first item on ebay it was an iphone, it sold for ($670) i had it with "buy it now" (the buyer paid the shipping) and paypal took some money for selling it, so they only gave me $630, and i could only transfer $500 to my bank account,
so i had $130 left, and then two weeks later i sold another iphone for $505 (buyer paid shipping) so i had $635
and when i wanted to transfer $500 to my account, paypal told me i only had $450 left out of the $635,
because i was charged $200 of "ebay monthly seller fees" i was so upset and mad because ebay never told me about this "ebay monthly seller fees"
can somebody please tell me what the hell are "ebay monthly seller fees" and how often do they charge you? I don't plan to sell anything else on ebay ever again! I do love buying from ebay but selling there's a horrible experience! Please somebody help me understand "ebay monthly seller fees"

You have to pay to use ebay. If you sell something, you owe ebay a percentage of the selling price, this is the monthly seller fees and its how ebay makes their money. They charge you this every time you sell something. Be aware they also charge you to put items up on ebay but its only like £0.20

I was never charged a monthly fee. They charge a percentage of what you sell. Maybe they charge those once a month. But it's based on what you sold. If you don't sell anything that month… They don't charge.

  • What happens if you use paypal to avoid ebay fees? A friend of mine is big into ebay and sells and buys alot. He wanted to buy an iphone for a little less and offered the seller less to go through paypal to go around ebay and save on fees. The seller said if he would just send an invoice through paypal. I told him he could probably get screwed doing it like that but figured i would ask. So if he pays the invoice would he have any protection if the seller decided to be mean and not send it out? Or would he be SOL

What would be my best way to make the shipping cost it's lowest? And make the eBay fee and PayPal fee as low as possible. I know different eBay accounts exist but I'm not sure which one to use. I'm hoping someone with experience can assist me.
  • I didn't get my refund from the ebay seller? I accidentally purchased an iPhone 4s from ebay. Soon after realizing what I had done, I quickly requested a cancelation before it was even shipped. He granted it. I asked him if I will receive my money back and he says that the amount should auto-refund as soon as I accepted the cancelation. He said it would take 24 hrs for the money to be refunded into my account. It's been three days and I haven't received the refund. I've tried emailing him but no replies. What can I do now?
