Why Apple products are so much expensive?

I mean i can't understand. My uncle has iphone 5, i have Galaxy S3. And his phone is not that better than mine, and in my country is almost 2x times more expensive. WTF? I don't think that iphones are made of diamond or gold? I really can't understand, phones with same or better specifications and features cost less than the iphone. This goes with all apple products… Can someone explain this to me?

Added (1). Thanks for the answers so far. And to that idiot Manon who doesn't know how to write, i have money to buy iphone, actually i had 4s before the S3. And to the top contributor answer-Iphones are way to expensive in the country that i live, it is not like USA or European Union.

Apple phones are costly as they are a part of a whole brand whose image stand out. Its all about the brand and its image.
Also the quality offered by these companies is
Premium.
Just like products of Chanel and Dior are costlier than Puma

If you did a benchmark between the s3 and the iPhone 5 you will find out the 5 is significantly more faster also the operating system on the iPhone is a lot less buggy than the s3 I know this because I switched from a galaxy s2 also the materials that go into manufacturing the phone is higher quality just watch making of the iPhone the galaxy is made of plastic, apple takes its time and mixes the arts with technology to produce a better product.

Apple products are premium quality and top of the line. They really aren't that expensive though. Like with an iPhone, there are phones that cost much less but phones like the htc one and galaxy sIII cost just as much. Their computers seem expensive but if you were to buy one of the more expensive windows computers such as alienware they would cost about as much as a mac.

They want to make profit

Even though the original Apple II from 1977 was "the Volkswagen of computers," when the Apple Lisa came out in 1982 it was "the Rolls Royce of personal computers." Even though I used to have the original 1984 Apple Macintosh, I'm typing this on a $500 HP/Compaq laptop, even though all my friends have multi-thousand-dollar Mac Books. Even though I admire Mercedes-Benz as a superior automobile, I don't feel the need to actually drive one.

Actually the iPhone 5 is better than the Galaxy S III. Sells better currently, more powerful, better battery life, camera, apps, etc. When the III was the flagship Galaxy S model it sold for the same $199 on contract as the iPhone 5.

As far as the pricing, may be due to taxes & what not.
